You need fibre in your diet to make you regular and keep your colon healthy, very, very important. Water is needed to keep you regular and to wash out toxins apart from keeping the cells hydrated. A detox diet is needed from time to time, at least once a year, to get rid of toxins, which builds up and is harmful to your body. I always use this diet when I start to feel that I need a cleansing I chop together English cucumber, carrots and celery and add an apple for the taste. Beetroot is cooked until tender and taken by itself as a meal. I would have paw-paw as alternate meal. Pears and pineapple are also good to burn fat. Try and stick to this for three days, drink lots of water and black rooibos tea. Have your supplements especially omega 3. Body Stress Release Until I went for Body Stress Release I was unaware of how stressed and unhappy my body was. But after three sessions with Winston Wiggins I'm as right as rain again - for now anyway. Body Stress Release (BSR) is the brainchild of two South African chiropractors, Gail and Ewald Meggersee, who developed the technique after many years of research into stress and its highly negative effect on the body. It has been practiced in South Africa since 1981. However, as Winston Wiggins, a BSR practitioner in Table View, Cape Town, hastens to point out, BSR is neither a medical treatment nor an alternative therapy. "It is a complementary technique which helps the body to heal itself by releasing stored tension." Wiggins has been a BSR practitioner for three years and got involved after he experienced a release himself. "It all started when a BSR practitioner sorted out five years of major back pain in very short time." The basics of BSR The BSR practitioner enables the body to heal itself by locating the precise areas where the body is stressed, such as along the spine, in the neck and head, even the buttocks and hips. The practitioner uses the client's body as a biofeedback mechanism, and by applying light and firm pressure to the key areas, activates the body to release the stress. Wiggins says BSR is most commonly used to counteract the physical effects of stress, such as lower back pain, neck pain and headaches. You're fully clothed during the session and, depending on the severity of your condition and the level of stress your body is carrying, sessions generally last between 15 and 20 minutes. "We start off by doing three releases," Wiggins explains. "Ideally, the second session follows four days after the first, and the third is given one week after that. Usually by this time we have a good indication of where we are going, and in some instances more sessions could be required. "It differs with each person as to how long the release will last, and this would depend on their lifestyle. We usually recommend clients to come back for regular maintenance releases, with the length of time between appointments varying between two and 12 weeks." How it felt My first session with Wiggins was slightly longer than the rest as he took time to explain exactly what was involved, and how the process worked. I listed some of the things I was having problems with, such as tension headaches and a sprained ankle. In fact there were so many I started to feel I was a wreck, but Wiggins was reassuring. After this it was onto the kind of bed chiropractors use: the kind you stand against and get lowered down onto. Lots of major back problems come this way, then. As I lay on my stomach, Wiggins patrolled between my feet and my back. Eventually, he focused on my back, firmly pressing down on a few spots. Most of these were tender enough to make me flinch when he pressed them. Wiggins later explained that the reason he kept checking my feet and then marking spots on my back, was because he was testing for stress by using the feet as a biofeedback monitor. He repeated the process on my buttocks, hips, up my spine, my shoulder blades, neck, shoulders, the base of my head and along my chest bone. Once he was done he had to gently rouse me. I hadn't actually fallen asleep, but I was deeply lethargic. I was also slightly lightheaded when I stood up, but this passed quickly. Stress and chemical imbalance After the session Wiggins told me I had significant stress in my body, particularly in my neck and shoulders, as well as chemical stress caused by factors such as air pollution, chemical exposure from soaps, shampoos and so on. I left with instructions to drink lots of water in the following hours, and I was warned to expect a mild detox headache the next day. It He was right about this, although the headache was gone by that afternoon. The follow-up sessions The next two sessions with Wiggins followed much the same path and I was delighted to hear in the second one that my body was responding well to the releases. By the third release, he announced that my body was in a far, far better condition. The chemical stress was almost completely gone, as was the tension in my neck and shoulders. The verdict Since I hadn't experienced any hint of a sore neck or shoulders before the sessions, I can't report any feeling of relief on that front. But I do feel more in touch with myself, more focused on my posture, and more careful about tensing or hunching. My body still feels pretty relaxed. I know it's up to me to keep it that way, but I really am impressed. And the best thing? Touch wood � I haven't had a tension headache in over a month, which is really amazing for me! The family, not so long ago, had and a scare when my eldest sister was diagnosed with a heart disease and needed quadruple heart surgery. Due to severe complications the surgery was not done. She was given 50% chance of survival either way. She decided to change her lifestyle and trust God for her healing. Having said that, God is able to do miracles but we have our part to play. Reverse that heart attack. 1] Healthy diet for your heart. 2] Regular exercise. 3] Healthy lifestyle. 4] Having regular blood tests. 5] Learn which supplements to take. Each of these will be discussed at a later stage. Risk factors. Which blood test to have and what it all means; 1] Cholesterol A] Good cholesterol= HDL= High Density Cholesterol. B] Bad cholesterol = LDL+ Low Density Cholesterol. Fact is that only 20% of cholesterol, comes from your diet and the rest is manufactured in your body by your liver. Reverse plague build-up in your body with Apple-cider vinegar. Other cholesterol lowering natural items are; Turmeric, Green tea, Guggulipid extracts, even munch on some walnuts. The danger of cholesterol is when it becomes oxidised by free radicals. It then becomes solid, like plague and can attach itself to your artery walls. It is said never to scramble your eggs, the process oxidises them, ready to block your arteries. 2] Triglycerides. In laymen’s terms it is fatty deposits stored in your body. It comes from carbohydrates taken in as food, transferred by your liver into glucose, for energy to the cells. When saturation is reached in the muscles, the liver has the task to convert the glycogen into Triglycerides, which is stored as fat. As we all know there are plenty of room to store fat in the body. Some of the Triglycerides float around in the blood, causing a danger for heart attacks, blocking arteries and threat of strokes. Raised Triglycerides levels are directly the cause of what and how much you eat. Lowering Triglycerides levels. Omega fish oil is hailed number one when it comes to lowering Triglycerides levels, along with other supplements already mentioned, like; Guggulipid, Green tea and Turmeric extracts. 3] Homocysteine levels. Homocysteine is the bi-product of digested protein, a toxin that causes inflammation of the artery walls. This inflammation is capable of damaging the artery walls so that plague can get a grip. All doctors agree that bad effects of stress, wrong eating habits and the lack of regular exercise, puts the emphasis today on physical fitness which is beneficial for your heart. The media has slogans like; “Love your heart”, “Look after your heart; it’s the only one you’ve got”. The real excitement is in the fact that knowledge is power. Power sets you free. Let me take you on a journey that will open your mind to something so easy, so enjoyable and a few changes here and there can bring you onto a new pattern of thinking, which is the start of total change or new life even for your heart. This is very dear to me, so embark with me on this journey. Part 1 Female heart attack verses Male heart attack. How to recognise the onset of a female heart attack. I received an e-mail a while ago from a lady who had a heart attack and wanted all females to know the symptoms in order to save lives. The symptoms of a female are different, much more subtle from that of a male heart attack. Studies in America places statistic of the occurrence of a heart attack in women plus -minus one in four or even higher. This information is vital. Once you realise that you are having a heart attack, stay calm but act immediately. The symptoms of a female heart attack are; A] A severe attack of heartburn, [as if you had something to eat to cause it, but you didn’t] B] Severe pain in the jaw. Experiencing pain in the upper body, chest, often not, more of a severe discomfort than pain. The female also experience pain in the shoulders, neck and back. C] Palpitations or at the very least, a fluttering of the heart, sensation going up your spine. [The aorta going into spasm, most probably] D] Further symptoms are; weakness fatigue, anxiety, and loss of breath. E] Nausea, vomiting, headaches and flu-like symptoms could also be experienced. Due to the subtleness of a female heart attack it could easy be miss- diagnosed, and then correct treatment is delayed.
How to recognise the onset of a male heart attack. When I did a bit of my own research, I found that that studies of heart attacks are mostly done on men. That is why it is important to know what the female difference is. Some time back the statistics of heart attacks in South Africa were one in five. A] Men experience mostly a severe pain in the chest with shooting pains going down the left arm. B] Any or all the other symptoms could be present in the male heart attack. The severity of the symptoms and variety could also differ from person to person. A degree of just a mild discomfort to the extreme as discussed above can be experienced. So when in doubt, rather be safe and call for help. Just speak to people who had a heart attack, and you will soon find out their experience was different from the previous sufferer. Act at once. 1] If you are alone, unlatch the front door. 2] Call 082 911; Explain your symptoms and that you suspect that you are having a heart attack. A doctor may not be able to come straight away. Anybody else may not have the equipment. 3] Take four disprins which could dissolve a clot. Also take the medication your Dr gave you for under the tongue every 5min times 5. This is advised by Dr Christiaan in his book; “Gesond vir ‘n leeftyd”. 4] Give them the details they need and wait calmly for their arrival. 5] They might tell you to lie on your back or just your head raised, near the front entrance where they will see you at once. 6] You could lose consciousness. My son is the eldest and have four children, three boys and a girl, the girl being the second oldest. My daughter has also four children; her girl is the eldest though. I am also a great grandmother to two beautiful little girls and am very proud. I am just a down to earth kind of person who loves life and do things in a very practical way. I am in the nursing profession and learn as I go along, so I hope to learn a lot more.
I am a very practical person. When I move into a new place I need to arrange my kitchen in the most workable way. I want to be able to move around from the fridge to the stove, to the table and then to the zinc with comfort. I should have things close at hand that belong together. It should all make practical sense to me. I understand things in a practical way. Don’t tell me to have faith, show me how to have faith in practical steps. This is how I view “Get your total health back” as well. I am still learning. Take this Laptop of mine, I needed to learn how to work on it from scratch and master the new software program on top of it. After all I was self taught in the old computer program. Then I had the cheek to open up a blog! Who says that granny’s cannot master technical stuff? I love the expression: “I am not as green as what I am cabbage looking” Does anybody know the expression? It is not all plain sailing though, I often feel so green in this hi-tech domain and things happen far too slow to my taste. I would have liked to have this published long ago but there are such a lot of drawbacks once you start, like making my old printer compatible to the new software, to name just one problem. Hopefully the problems will be sorted shortly and we could get to know one another, spending time together like old friends. It would be most appreciated if you can leave some comments regarding the subject and I could learn from you.
